My complaint:

I visited Walmart located In Cicero IL Store 03004 on February 3, 2022. I visit this Walmart Store at least twice a week. On this particular day I was leaving the store and one of the door employees asked to see my receipt which I did not have a problem with because I know that this is one of Walmart procedures.

What I did have a problem with is that this employee immediately accused me of not paying for an item I had at the bottom of my cart. This employee held my receipt and pulled my cart back and started going through my bags. I asked what the problem was to which he said you just came from the self-checkout. I responded yes and I have paid for every item on the receipt. He ignores me and continue to go through my bags. Five items he accused me of not paying for and those items I pointed to on the receipt, however he continued accusing me of not paying for items. At that time, I felt harassed and totally embarrassed. Still bothered by the psychological emotional effect I called the store to speak to the store manager to explained what happened two days later.

I was told the manager would not be in until Monday. Monday came I went to the store to speak to Store Mgr. Gaetano waited two hours and still did not speak to Mr. Gaetano. That added salt to the wound, I would think that he would have care enough to come to address a customers complaint. However on that Monday two team leads asked me if I needed assistance the first called for the Mgr. Gaetano still, he did not come to address me, so I waited. Team Lead two came and again I explained the issue to which I was told well that’s their job to which I said I totally understand that but what I did not agree with is the fact that the employee accused me of not paying for items not one not two but five that were on my receipt and at that time I felt I was being harassed. All he kept saying while taking items out of my cart and going through ALL of by bags like I was a criminal was you didn’t pay for this. I must say however that Team Lead Ke Ke the third Team Lead intervened on the last half of this employee going through my bags and apologized for his behavior and was there Monday and apologized again.

Suggested solution:

Saying I am sorry does not erased the psychological effect that will continue to play out in my head. What they should have done is after pulling five items from my cart that was on my receipt was apologize and let me be on my way but that did not happen until Mr. Ruben that employee went through 80% of my items. This person has been touching people\'s receipts and everything else, with Covid still among this society and blessed not to have caught it. Also, I feel the Store needs to change its policy when checking out in the self-check lanes not everyone that check out of there who has a full cart is a thief or does that apply to certain individuals wrongfully assuming
