My complaint:

An employee got permission to call their parent to bring them their medication they take for their disability. She felt a flare up coming on and needed her medication. Policy is employees are not allowed to be on their phone unless they have permission from a manager. The employee asked the manager and for permission to call their parent to bring them their medication which was a 10 second call. The employee got her medication and went to the real room to take it. Another manager followed her into the real room and asked her what she was doing. The employee stated they were taking their medication they needed for their disability. The manager asked if the employee was on break and they states they weren’t they just needed to take their medication real quick. The manager yelled at her that’s what breaks are for and to get back to work. As the employee was leaving the break room the manager slammed the door in the employees face. Later the employee noticed the cashiers were getting swamped and hopped on a register to help out. One manager told her that as a key carrier it looks bad when she’s running a register and told her to go find something else to do. While doing something else the manager from before asked the employee why they weren’t t on a register when the store is so busy. The employee stated that they got on a register without being asked but was told by the store manager to get off it looked bad. Since then this perfect employee that’s been with that store since it opened and was praised by shoppers was written up for being on the phone to call for their medication that she got permission to do and also written up for doing their job but told to not do their job. Days after that the manager who is named Priscilla who is the one who berated the employee over their disability had done nothing but bully and harass the employee to the point they had no other option but to quit. The Parks Texas store has an employee turnover rate of 100% which should be embarrassing to the company. This was asked personally my management of the store and she stated it’s 100% turnover. The biggest concern is the way the employee was treated over needing medication they take for their disability. Tjmaxx just recently has a lawsuit over ADA compliance and this will be the next step this employee takes. Priscilla the manager has been over heard by shoppers talking bad about employees and stating how she is a recovering heroin addict and she states she’s glad the store doesn’t to drug tests. This manager is an embarrassment to the store. I have a video of Priscilla the managers erratic behavior while working. And video of her berating employees so loudly other shoppers could hear it. This sweet employee who’s been a great asset to the store and help in opening it was bullied so badly by managers it’s pathetic. But to be written up and bullied over a disability is grounds for a lawsuit which what the employees next step will be.

Suggested solution:

They should terminate Priscilla the manager who discriminated against an employee over their disability and the fact they have to take medication at work. They should also publicly apologize to the employee and offer her to come back to her job she had to leave over discrimination and bullying. That is what needs to be done to save tjmaxx from a pricy lawsuit for ADA violations. Which I will add again tjmaxx just recently had a lawsuit for ADA compliance. It's disgusting how employees with disabilities are treated and talked about in front of customers. Hire that employee back and apologize for the way she was discriminated against!
