My complaint:

On Thursday 1-6-22 my daughter and I went into the South Holland store to shop as we did the day before and several other days over the years.

At check out I believe the young lady is a new hire because she appeared to struggle a bit with ringing items and bagging the items. The cashier next to her came to her aid a few times as to we were the only ones in her line and it was taking her a bit of time to complete our sale.
That was fine. But, as she gave my daughter our bag a $1.97 mug fell out because the bag was up side down and wobbly. That was ok it was only a accident. The young lady proceeded to call the manager while the cashier next to her asked me if I wanted to get something else. I told her no. My daughter and I had shopped all day so I was ready to go. I just told the young lady that a refund will be fine no problem. Of course she said “No refund” by that time the manager arrived at the counter and the young lady reluctantly explained what happened. The manager said in a quick response to her “ So it wasn’t your fault! “ she turned to me and said we don’t give refunds”. I said to her ma’am this is not a return I haven’t left your store, it was just a accident, no harm intended just return my $1.97 Then the manager said well how did you pay for it , looked at my receipt and said oh we don’t give cash I have to put it back on your card. I said that’s fine ! At this point I was really tired and couldn’t believe the manager was giving me a hard time over this. She said “ It will take three days to get back on your card! I said look just forget everything take it all back give me a refund for everything! My order was $54.65 she swung my cart towards the young cashier who stepped away from the register as the manager proceeded to void my order and return my money and told her just put everything back. As the manager completed my return she looked at me and said “You don’t need to anything else I said I’m waiting for some type of receipt she said I don’t get one , I told her to give me a copy of the voided receipt so that I can have proof that she had out my money ($54.65) back on my card. She pushed one little button and out came my voided receipt.

Unbelievable! I know that young new cashier was shaken.
Just to know that the manager of a store would prefer to lose $54 rather then $1.97 blows my mind especially, over a items that are given to there facilities for free. I hope that transaction went well as to I don’t want to have to contact you or your store again regarding this.

Unhappy used to be customer.

Suggested solution:

Waiting for my refund.
