Went online to register and found out that I must submit a document to verify my status as a retired U.S. Navy reservist. I don’t own a smart phone. Now what? Looks like I will forgo shopping at Home Depot. I have an account (since 1961) at a local competitor that offers a 10% military discount with my military ID card. They have four branch stores vs. Home Depot’s two. In addition, the locally owned stores have sales associates that know their products.

24 year military retiree here…I’ve tried signing up for Home Depot’s military discount using their app, as suggested. After I enter all my information, I get an error message. I’ve tried 4 times and get the same result each time. Now, I have to wait for “SheerID support” to get back to me (ever how long THAT takes). Not sure why my government issued retiree ID isn’t sufficient for their discount….it seems to be accepted every where else a military discount is offered. Thanks for making what used to be an easy process MUCH more difficult than it needs to… Read more »

I have also tried to register online (laptop/no smart phone) for the H.D. military discount. No luck at all. When I go to the store I usually take my DD214 and show the cashier. Normally I get “go online and register” I’ll give you the discount this time but that is it. I worked for H.D. part-time seasonal Summer job (only one season) in Michigan. The Company cares very little about their employees let alone the customers. Terrible operation!
