My complaint:
I booked a ticket from Edmonton to Abbotford BC for a travel on 7th Jan 2022. After the rising cases of Omicron and increased restrictions in BC and Canadian government advise to avoid non-essential travel on 23rd Dec 2021 we decided to change the travel dates.
The scoop airlines request a fare charge more than the actual air fare. The total air fare cost was $430 and the change fare alone is $600 taxes. I sent out an email on 23rd Dec 2021 requesting them to consider my case but did not get a reply till 4th Jan 2022.
I called their customer care and i was put on hold for 2hrs and 30 min still no response. Finally, i got a response in my twitter account, that the airline policy was not affected by outside variables. In this case the variable would be that the airline was promoting unlawful travel.
I will need to raise a complaint with Canadian Transportation Agency and I am sure that they would help me get either a travel voucher or a reschedule with reasonable prices.
This complaint is a precursor to the complaint I will be filing with CTA.
Suggested solution:
I expect a travel voucher for the amount I spent on flights and to check a bag total $429.60 or allow me to reschedule the flight to a different date with reasonable difference in fare price.
