My complaint:
On the 24th of November i went to stop and shop to grab last minute groceries before thanks giving. After purchasing my merchandise i proceeded to the exit when a store manager came up and grabbed the person behind me blaming her of thieft. That person was someone i knew from the community so after dropping my groceries off i went back into thw store to see what has happened as i entered the manager right away points me at me calls me a thieve and an accomplence to what she thought occured. I was threatened not to leave the market and the police were called. I didnt run and waited because i had nothing to hide. I explained to rhe manager ahe should check the video cameras before accusing me of anything and she proceeded to call me a thieve and onced the police arrived she had said she caught me stealing and trying to leave without paying for my products. I was calm and professional and told the cops that i have products and recipts for my purchases and the manager continued to call me a lair and thieve. I remained calm because i knew the problem qould be solved after the cameras where checked. In that time i had neighbors, and people who i do business with see me being detained and over heard the manager call stating i was stealing as embarrassing as that was. I was still calm and i had to much to stress, my children home and me being arrested because this women wont stop calling me a theive i was than approached by the cops and charged with Larceny 6th. At this time an investor who i have bummed into at stop and shop witness the charged and asked to speak to me seperatly and canceled the contract. Wouldnt blame him but did make a difficult finacial time worse. After I was let go I quickly went to my car grabbed my groceries went back into the retail walked up to the managers office where the cops met me at the door and asked me to leave. I showed them the merchandise the reciept and adked them to check the camera again. So this time they did there jonb and saw that i have walked in grabbed my merchandise paid for it and headed out. This doesnt change the stress and loss i went through. The store mansger not even approach me to apologize after knowing she was wrong and with out folllowing loss and prevention codes and rules cost me more than just my time, stress and embarrassment but also ruined a contract that was to help me get by the next 6 months to a year of work.
