My complaint:
I was waiting in the fragrance department for the lady working there to help me
. I had come to sample a few fragrances , but the testers are behind locked glass .
She ignored me .
A group of three walked in minutes AFTER I arrived and she went on to help them .
An older lady popped around looking for help and after the worker had finished with the group of 3 she went and helped her .
I waited 15 minutes and still needed to persuade the worker to come help me after she was done .
I asked her if there was a reason why she helped two people who showed up after me and she said :
“ you came here before , and you smelled too many colognes . My collogues say to not serve you because you didnt buy anything . “
Disgusting !
Listen up ! I try colognes to know which ones I want ! … just like the rest of the world !
If i come back to verify which fragrance I like thats my business and thier job to accommodate !
Thats the whole point of having tester bottles available , no?
If there is limit as to how much I can smell then post a sign !!
If I need to show my bank account for them to help me pick a scent , then post a sign with the policy in writing . Otherwise tell your employee to go spray the scents I pick on a card and spare my the old fabricating-rules routine.
I’ve been to every single store that sells fragrances in the city and they want you to find what you like cuz that’s their job .
I’ve purchased 2 bottles of cologne from this location in the past …..but why should this matter . Why do I have to prove to your employees that I intend to buy something in order to be served ?? Gross !
I cant help but think that this might have something to do with the color of my skin to be honest …..
I also visit the Shoppers location at Broadway and Burrard for fragrance shopping and unlike the 4th and Vine location , they have been nothing short of amazing and helped me purchase a bottle Prada Amber not 2 weeks ago .
( dont believe me ? Call the fragrance department at the Broadway and Burrard location and ask about the handsome blackman whos been frequenting their section in the last month or so ; who has taken particular interest in the Gucci Pafum and Prada Ocean )
They go out of their way to offer ideas and make suggestion. As they should to people who show interest and not make irrelevant assumptions about them !
Why is it that the treatment of customers is so different in locations so close to each other ?
Why does Shoppers hire people who get to just make up bullshit excuses to not do the job they are paid to do ? How can I spend money if I dont know what the product smells like ?
It says not to post privacy sensitive data , so I didnt post the picture of the employee in question . This was hard for me to do .
Its hard to NOT hold people accountable for their actions , and instead contribute to protecting their identity.
I have to respect their “privacy “ but they dont have to respect my patronage ??
Please explain !! I’m all ears !
Suggested solution:
Simple . Employ people who help people based on what their job dictates and not based on discriminating against people who “ don’t spend money “.
Either that or educate your employees on what their job is !
