My complaint:

On Saturday 26th February we had a delivery from Sainsbury’s ref: xxxxxxxxxx to our disgust 13 of the items were short life and a further single item was past its sell by date by 6 days!, obviously we returned all of these items and the items have since been refunded.

We were given no notice on the receipt email that any of these items would be short life.

We have had the odd short life product before from Sainsbury and sent items back but this delivery was the worst ever, we are both disabled and rely on the delivery service for our weekly shop, so items that only last one or two days are useless to us.

There is clearly a policy at the store that delivers to our address to use the home delivery service as a means of getting rid of their short life products, one of the items we sent back had a sell by date 7 days earlier than the sell by date on the same item we purchased at Winchmore Hill Sainsbury’s Store when we visited on 22nd February.

I immediately complained by telephone about the delivery, the gentleman that took all the details assured me the report would be forwarded to the manager of the delivering store and someone would contact us within 72 hours, no one has been in contact and I am composing this letter 9 days (216 hours!) after the incident.
I am as I said disgusted with Sainsbury’s in two ways firstly that I have had to complain about the delivery service again and again without any notice being taken of my complaints then secondly that the manager of the Store that delivers to our address clearly doesn’t care about my complaint because they have not bothered to contact me as I was promised they would.
Because there are items available at Sainsbury’s that we like we will still shop at our local store in Winchmore Hill, here we are able to select the freshest produce ourselves, but as already stated we will never use your delivery service again.

Suggested solution:

I recently renewed our delivery pass but as we will not be using your delivery service in the future I would like this cancelled and the cost refunded (The contract was that we paid for delivery because Sainsbury promised the freshest items available, Sainsbury's broke the contract by sending items that were not the freshest available at the time!).
