My complaint:

I emailed a few days ago and I still have not heard a response back from customer care. I had a windshield installation done by a service tech in Overland Park (Kwenton) on a 2016 Volvo XC90 through USAA. He did not recalibrate my vehicle. He said the only thing this would affect would be my lane assist and that I needed to call the shop on Shawnee Mission Pkwy to schedule a recalibration appointment (which I did as soon as I paid him). When I go to drive home from work at the end of the day, I find that he completely ran my vehicle out of gas. I had half a tank when I parked my car that morning it was completely on E when I got in it. So I’m assuming he let it run with AC on full blast the entire 3 hrs he was out there since when I got in the car the max AC was on. As I’m driving down the highway, I have a complete electronic system failure. My power steering fails, I have no blinkers or hazards, no fans to cool the engine (it was close to 100 that day). He gave me a completely unsafe vehicle to drive home. He should’ve never touched the vehicle if he could not complete the job properly. I stopped at a gas station to fill it up and then my car would not shut off. I also couldn’t get it back into Drive to leave. So I’m stranded at a gas station, 8 months pregnant in 100 degree heat. UNACCEPTABLE. I have to call USAA to get my car towed back to Safelite that same day (Tuesday 7/25) for them to do the recalibration first thing in the morning. It isn’t until 4pm Wednesday that the technician informs me my car is being transferred to Volvo because Safelite cannot do the recalibration at their shop. An entire day wasted when they knew they couldn’t do the recalibration. So now, I’m due with a baby any day, have no vehicle because Volvo is doing diagnostics on my car to ensure there is not permanent damage from the shoddy windshield replacement this technician performed, and my husband is out of town. This one incident has caused an unnecessary cascade of events and now it’s putting my health and the health of my baby at risk if I cannot get to a hospital should I go into labor. I expect a response to this email and I expect Safelite to take care of any and all damages associated with this windshield replacement, including all costs associated at Volvo. I paid my insurance deductible to Safelite for the windshield. I will not be paying any more money for a job that should have been very easy and cut and dry. But instead, is turning into a week or more of continued inconvenience and costs for my family. Safelite is responsible for any and all repairs to my vehicle. This needs to be rectified immediately.

Suggested solution:

Fix my vehicle and pay for any and all damages associated with their shoddy work.
