My complaint:
On, August 10, 2023, I arrived at the Clinton, MD drive through and placed my order. After my order was placed I drove to the window to pay. My order total came to $12.90. I payed the entire amount cash – one five dollar bill and seven ones. Change was paid with two quarter, three dimes and two nickel.
The cashier – Imani took my money and placed the change in the cash register while the bills were placed on top of the cash register drawer and blew with the wind. She reached down to gather the bills and began counting. Shortly after, she says you didn’t give me enough money. I told her no, I counted the money twice and it is the correct amount. Imani then proceeds to talk loudly about me to her fellow co-wokers and then the manager as if I was not at the window. Imani also never acknowledged that the money blew away on the floor. She just began to state that if her drawer is short then it was because of (she points backward as her back was turned to me). Then she says, I am not accusing you mama!? The manager comes over and asks what happens and I explain the circumstance and she laughs and says, there is a way we can check the register as she adjusts the screen and looks at Imani.
No customer should be accused of stealing or cheating without the full story being told and checking the drawer properly. This situation could have been handled better and not as a joke or try to shame a customer.
Unacceptable Popeyes!!! You can refund me for my order.
Suggested solution:
Honesty is the best policy. The cashier should have told the full story and stated the money was blown away. Due to that circumstance, she should have stated she is not sure if that is the reason for her inability to count accurately. Then asked the manager how should the circumstance be handled instead of complaining to everyone with ears nearby.
