Menards complaint: Returns for online orders

My complaint:

We recently had a house fire and was told to purchase several items. We placed a bulk order with Mendards for almost $13,000. 5 days later construction started, and we realized a lot of the items needed returned because they weren’t needed.

Knowing it was well within the 30 day return period, we brought 4 ceiling fans and 3 lights back to the Menards store assuming we could get a refund. The store refused the return stating that they didn’t think they could resell them. You would think after spending that amount with a company, you could return a few items. Especially since we are loyal customers and have done all of our home flipping business with Menards for over 10 years. I am very frustrated that they weren’t willing to return these few items. I will never shop with menards again and I will encourage all of our local contractors to never purchase from them again. I can’t believe they are making this fuss all over a small amount.

If you buy something online, how is it possible to know whether or not you can return it. The manager said we can refuse any item and there is a disclaimer in small print online when you purchase items.

What a terrible business practice, no wonder Amazon is becoming so popular.

Suggested solution:

Refund my entire order, I am returning all of it now.
