My complaint:

On January 25th, 2023 I was contacted by a Liberty Mutual agent informing me that My ex-husband had contacted them and requested that the joint insurance be severed. I had contacted the insurance company the week prior and was told I could not sever the policies but when my ex contacted the insurance company, I was told I needed a new policy ASAP. I discussed policy options and was alarmed by the excessive rate. The agent I spoke with was unable to tell me why the charge was so excessive. I received multiple quoted prices throughout the call and received an email after the call with yet another amount. I contacted Liberty Mutual again and requested to speak with a supervisor. After waiting several days without a call back I contacted Liberty Mutual once again. I was told during that call that there was a claim made on the policy during my marriage that I didn’t know about. The claim was filed and paid out in 2018 and I was learned of it in 2023. I am also listed as a driver on another policy for vehicles I never knew about, seen, or had access to. I requested to be removed from that policy when I was told I need to reach out to that policy holder and ask them if it would be ok to be removed from their policy. When I asked why I was never told and why what this information was listed in the client portal the agent could provide no response. I then filed a complaint with the BBB and an agent from Liberty Mutual responded to the complaint and stated she would be reaching out to me. Elanda Johnson from Liberty Mutual reached out and told me she would be looking into my case. The agent stated she would be listening to recorded calls previously made. However, during ne recorded call she was unable to tell me anything and some of my contact was actually not recorded. I told the agent I wanted nothing more to do with Liberty Mutual and would be going with another car insurance company. I informed them the other company I contacted wanted to know about the previous claim to which Elanda Johns responded by saying we could schedule a three-way call the next day with the other insurance company at 11am. I ed the time with the other insurance company but when I reached out to Elanda at 11:10am the next morning she told me she was in a meeting and would contact me shortly. After three hours I received a call back from Elanda. Upon calling the other insurance company she remained silent, could not offer any information, and appeared to try sabotage my ability to get other insurance. I had insurance with Liberty Mutual from 12623 – 2723 and had my bank account charged $376.62 on 22723.

Suggested solution:

I would like my monies, $376.62 refunded and consumers be made aware of the companies deceptive and malicious practices.
