My complaint:

I was a 5 star rated Black Shopper. Yet during the time I have worked for Instacart, which is almost two years, I have never been given the opportunity to receive the top notch batches that 5 star Shoppers are given. Never. I’m usually given high mileage and low paying batches, regardless of my ratings and high praising from my customers. When I inquire about this type of disparity to INSTACART’S Customer Care staff, retaliation is brought against me. Such as, rating reduction by false accusations of policy Violations. False reports of Customer complaints of missing or damaged groceries. Which I have submitted photos proving these false accusations are untrue I have even been called by Customer Care Agents accusing me of stealing customer’s groceries in the past. I’m then sent on ghost fake batches with extremely high mileage, and sometimes dangerous locations.

Around two weeks ago, I again addressed batch distribution disparity to Instacart. My rating went from 5 stars to 4.98. They said a Customer, by the name of Kianna reported her groceries were damaged, and another customer reported groceries were missing. I provided Instacart pictures, that clearly proved Customer fraud. I then received no batches and did not work again until that Thursday. But I was only allowed to do one low paying batch. I continued to seek answers from Instacart about disparity issues. But was only given playbook responses by Customer Care team. Some would simply disconnect. A manager by the name of Utal would not converse with me at all. Superbowl Sunday, I start receiving orders after waiting almost all day. I completed the batches. When no other batches were offered to me I logged out. Four hours later, at 9: 51pm, INSTACART’S trust and safety team sent me an email, saying that I violated one of their policies. Falsely accused me by saying a customer smelled smoke on their groceries. Which is a lie. This really upset me.

I responded to the safety and trust team, by telling them that I wanted to file a complaint, because of the continuous discriminatory treatment and false accusations being hurled against me. My character, and work ethics every single time I make inquiries to Instacart about their disparity practices. The Instacart trust and safety team sent an email back. Informing me that the email was no longer in use. I would have to contact customer care. I did the following morning. Instacart dropped my rating another 8 points. No reason given. Continuously asked Customer Care for the opportunity to file an official complaint. Was constantly given the playbook statements, and runaround. They simply would not provide me with the information to do so. Instacart will no longer allow me to send them screenshots that clearly proved the lies and false accusations against me.

Suggested solution:

I don\'t believe Instacart wants to resolve these issues. INSTACART\'S priority is GREED! On the backs of DEDICATED, Hardworking individuals, just trying to maintain and feed their families. Instacart has shown such an abomination not only to the Shoppers, but to the institution of Fair and Humane Labor policies in our Great Country. Instacart continues to commit these atrocities with impunity, and has no intentions of positive change. Therefore I know it\'s time. Long overdue time, that our Federal Department of Justice must immediately intervene and force Instacart to adhere to the United States labor laws and hold them fully accountable to their past and present gross infractions against ALL of their workers. They Must be made to be an example of non tolerance abuse of Shoppers. Especially Black Shoppers.
