Grubhub complaint: dishonest claims and contempt for customers

My complaint:

Grubhub: I was repeatedly assured that my first delivery by you
would not have a delivery fee. But when I paid, your software
automatically charged me for a tip for your driver, which I found
no way to exclude. Probably your lawyer assured you that you could
get away with this kind of thing as long as a customer was told
exactly what he’d have to pay, and for what. By then the customer
is hungry; he’ll tolerate anything. Clever, huh?

At first, I was told to expect a 40-minute delay. I followed the
graphic on your web page, showing your delivery vehicle. Your
driver seemed to have no idea where he was, let alone where he
might be going. I was told to expect a phone call, which never
happened. A couple of hours later, your delivery guy showed up;
not even a knock on the door. The food was placed on the ground in
front of my door; ants crawling down there. I was revolted but, by
then, starving, and I couldn’t afford to discard the food; anyway
I would then have had to prepare a meal for myself, with that much
more delay. I didn’t see any ants crawling on the chicken, though
I could actually have eaten some of them; who knows.

When you get a phone number from a customer, he expects a call.
Failing that, at least a knock on the door. But even failing that,
all you need is to put the food in a bag, which you can hang from
the door knob. No ants, up there.

Were anyone to suggest that I deal with Grubhub again, I would
take that as a vicious personal insult. Don’t call me on the
phone; I don’t need to hear any chitchat. Don’t tell me how you
plan to make it up to me. I don’t want any further contact with
Grubhub. Probably you have, somewhere, a regional manager, who
gets to be told how his different locations are losing customers
for him; pass this to him, but I don’t want to hear from him,
either.

Please destroy my account with you, and retain no record of my
existence. Goodbye. Now. Please.

Your account will not be destroyed. the driver should be canned. no one deserves this kind of disservice. I hope you used a gift card when ordering from them. or any of them. I have to say its about time someone learned the lesson and knows not to do it again! They lie they all lie about everything and add fees that do not exist.i have yet to find any type of regional or general manager or even a manager or maybe person will not admit they are, definitely not advertise it… the people who work at corporate locations in… Read more »
