My complaint:
In Oct 2020, I opened my fist account with Duke Energy in Winter Garden for an apartment complex I was living in while looking for a home to purchase.
In May 2021, I purchased a home in Apopka and called Duke to TRANSFER my service. In June, when it was time to pay my first bill for Apopka, I logged onto my dashboard and found 2 accounts.
I called Duke for an explanation and was told that the Winter Garden account was never closed. I asked the rep, You are not about to charge me for a month of electricity that I wasn’t using , are you? She assured me that that wasn’t the case.
In July, what do you know, here I am with a transferred amount of $125.47 that I am supposed to pay. I called again and got a manager on the phone who understood that I was correct and send a credit request to whatever department to handle it.
In August, said credit request is still pending and I am being harassed with text and phone calls that my account is scheduled for disconnection if I don’t pay the amount. Mind you, I am making my regular payments in the meantime!!!!
Suggested solution:
Rectify the bill immediately and stop harassing me about disconnecting my service.
