My complaint:

I have shopped at Dick’s for years and can honestly say after today I have no intention of shopping with you ever again. I purchased a pair of Adidas Ultra Boost 4s on July 4, 2021, less than 60 days ago. The shoes wore terribly. I went to the shoe department and the young man there was great, told me that Dick’s stood behind shoes that were less than 60 days old and that I should bring the replacement pair to the front.

This is where the problem began, as it was a comedy of errors. The following transpired:

1. A young woman was able to look up my transaction and verified that I purchased the shoes on July 4th.

2. Then told her I would like to exchange the pair I was wearing for a new pair, since it was less than 60 days old.

3. A manager then came over and told me that Dick’s would NOT honor the warranty, as it was wear and tear not a defect.

4. I advised the manager that I was not a runner, but a walker instead. He told me Adidas were notorious for wearing out quickly, as he said as quickly as three months. He told me to buy another brand.

5. He also advised me that Dick’s would not warranty the shoes, even though they wore out very quickly. He basically stated that Adidas should not be worn for sport, but only for show.

6. I found the comments of the manager sarcastic, which matched his I don’t really care about the customer attitude.

7. I then asked for proof of purchase so I could write to Adidas for recourse.

8. I was advised that Dick’s did not have access to invoices OR any other information regarding my purchase.

9. I then advised the manager that Dick’s had to have some information regarding my purchase, as his sales clerk found the purchase based on my phone number.

10. The Manager insisted that I was incorrect. However after 15 minutes the Manager figured it out and took a screen shot of my purchase.

11. The entrie experience was a complete waste of 30 minutes.

12. The only person in the store who cared at all about me as a consumer was the gentleman who worked in the shoe department.

13. As stated above, the Manager was somewhere between condescending and rude. I am in the service industry and I would never treat a customer the way I was treated today, it was shocking,

Suggested solution:

Dick's should stand behind the products they sell and give me a new pair of shoes.
