My complaint:

I bought a heavy duty VP gas can there (CarQuest on Broad St.) around last November for $45.00. I kept noticing fuel around the base of it, but kept thinking that I hadn’t tightened the cap enough until last week. I left it sitting in the bed of my pickup for a while and noticed that I had about a half gallon of diesel all over my bed liner. It had a slow drip through a flaw in the seam on the bottom. Looking through the filler neck you can see a crack that is about 58 of an inch long in the seam. This is a manufacturing flaw, not any kind of damage. As a matter of fact, I have never had a plastic gas can that leaked, even a cheap one. long story short, I took it back to CarQuest expecting them to make it good, and trade it for another one, never expecting them to give me an argument over the thing. I am a long time customer, but apparently the new guy in charge, Lee, does not value old customers. Without even a cursory examination of the container, he announced that he had no control over how it was used and that it was an old can with a faded label(?).
I left there and called him back today and was told to bring it back by for him to look at. The rude manner that I was spoken to is a real first for me as a customer with a legitimate, provable complaint. All this over making a product that they sold good. So much for CarQuest.. I see that several of their nearby locations have closed. Maybe this kind of thing is why. Jim James

Suggested solution:

Replace my gas can or refund my money Apologize to me, a formerly good, old customer, for the manager's rude, arrogant and condescending attitude.
