My complaint:

In October 2022, my mother had requested her account be closed, due to the number of delinquency on credit card activities outside of her norm, which happened through the years. In January, she received multiple threats of closing accounts, sending her to collection agency for dues (multiple fees) that Capital One incurred against my poor mother who as it is has to work hard to make ends meet since my dad’s passing. Besides the fact that no records were recorded of any requests of closing the card in October, they’ve charged her over $140 worth of fees, which she finally had to close in MAY 2022!! Mind you, this card was requested to be closed in OCTOBER 2022!!! Their rationale being, well you have a Spectrum Bill that had been automatically billed to us monthly and there is no way we can close the accound due to that reason. My mom have called Spectrum in October, and in which case due to their error, have caused this dilemma to begin with. You would think after years and years being a customer of Capital One that they would take care of their long term customer? Think again, I found hundreds of dollars of her card being used by another. This is the reason why when I monitor the card, for her to release this ruthless company who has no ethical bone in their regulations. The access was also removed since January, stating that there is no active account online – leading me to believe that they truly closed her account, until she received multiple threat emails delineating the terms and conditions that would send her to collection agency. You must have paid thousands of dollars to your clients to get you scored a 4.5 as if I can give y’all a 1 star, I totally would. You will be hearing more from me if this does not get resolved as you are ruining my mother’s credit line as you are by far the worst credit card company I’ve ever dealt with in my 25 years I’ve had my credit. Someone needs to fix this incompetency as you cannot be financially abusing seniors or else I will report you to hire agencies regarding your misconduct.

Suggested solution:

Close the account and return the fees incurred during the process that the card should have been closed in October to begin with.
