My complaint:

Good afternoon BA Customer Service Team,

Id like to speak to you about my recent experience with flying with British Airways. my flight ation number was N6W4KU. I was suppose to fly out to LHR on Dec 10th at 5 PM and catch a connection to LIS at 9:15 AM. I went to check the status of my flight and print out my ticket on the 9th prior to my departure, and I noticed that my ticket was cancelled and I was never informed of this. No emails were sent to me regarding this cancellation of the airlines, and no notes to reschedule my flight were provided. The only reason that I was able to find this out before my trip was because I took the time to call BA and have them re-schedule me. When I had called, I was on hold for over 2 hours and they were not able to find me a fight with the same arrival time, which then delayed my travel plans through Lisbon and I was to catch a train to Faro after I had landed. Due to this flight cancellation and inability to find an equivalent flight, I unfortunately had missed my non-refundable train ticket and had to rebook, delaying my travel plans further. I understand that things are crazy with the COVID pandemic but it is already so expensive to fly during these times with proper testing and all–so we really rely on airlines to give their passengers transparent communication in regards to flight cancellations. This was a huge inconvenience as I had incurred multiple travel expenses and due to cancelled trains as a result of this flight cancellation. I also had to pay for another COVID-19 rapid test costing me an additional $125 as due to the new flight that BA put me on, my COVID test that I got in Chicago no longer counted as it was past the 24 hr mark for rapid antigen and I had to pay for another test in Lisbon to travel further in the country. I really hope BA can be better about notifying customers about cancellations in the future.

Suggested solution:

The cancelled flight by BA made me incur multiple additional expenses (i.e. had to rebook a train ticket as my original one was non-refundable, and had to pay for a new COVID-19 rapid antigen test as the delay caused my old one to be invalid due to time constraints). I would like to be considered for a refund of my ticket, or see if I can be reimbursed for the additional travel expenses that I had incurred due to this flight cancellation. However, on top of being considered for a refund of my ticket valuing 357.65 or a voucher of similar value, I would like BA to be more transparent if they have flight cancellations in the future. This is a huge inconvenience to travelers as we are banking on being able to make our flights and we will need proper communication from the airlines if there is a cancellation in the future. Thank you for your consideration. My flight numbers that I was originally suppose to fly on are as follows: BA0294, BA0506 with ticket ation of N6W4KU
