My complaint:

We just got back from Applebee’s in Woodbridge, NJ hungry. We arrived at the restaurant and ordered our food. One hour later everyone around us that arrived when we did, had not only ordered their food, but they ate it and were leaving. I asked the waiter multiple times if our order was ready and he told us he would check, then he said someone would bring it, then he came out twice with other people’s orders that arrived after us. Finally after 1 hour we decided to leave. I told them I would not wait any longer and magically another waiter came out with our food. I was not going to eat it at that time, it had been an entire hour. When we asked for the manager, she did not want to hear the fact that we waited an hour and kept telling me that we waited 20 minutes. That’s impossible. The people that arrived at the same time as us, ordered, ate and left. It was a party of 3 people. Impossible that all of that could have happened in 20 minutes. To make matters worse, instead of apologizing, she charged me for the mozzarella sticks and 2 soft drinks. We didn’t even get to drink the sodas because we were waiting for our food. I paid the $17.03 and left aggravated and hungry. This is completely unacceptable. An experience such as dining out, should be a pleasant one and not this disaster.

Instead of the manager understanding and listening to what happened, she charged me. I was not going to argue or fight, I just paid it and left. But this is not how you handle a situation especially when they are wrong. It was either the kitchen’s fault or the waiter put in our order late. Regardless, the restaurant really messed up and didn’t own up to it even though they knew they were wrong. To cover their mistake, the manager actually comped the chicken tender platter on the receipt and kept the food. Nothing was comped. It’s a total lie. We didn’t get to eat it because they never served it.

Our total order including the takeout that we were going to place would have easily topped $100. I should have never paid the $17.03. It was wrong of them to charge me and I should have been comped our meals. None of that happened. This was the worse experience ever!

Suggested solution:

I should get reimbursed for the $17.03 that I paid. It was wrong of them to even charge me. I should receive a true comp for the meals that we would have eaten. It's terrible that my son, especially my son, left there hungry. It's wrong. They need to make this right.
