My complaint:

Hello,

I attempted to contact and work with AirTransat Customer support. My father is at the tail-end of fighting cancer and will die before our trip. When we booked the trip, his oncology team believed he had at least 3 good months left. He will die within 2 weeks at this point.

The customer service rep was unable to assist whatsoever, and their manager offered to additional support despite having me on the line waiting for 20 minutes in the hospital with my dying father.

Yes, we didn’t pay for flight insurance/being able to move flight. My dad is inelligible for travel insurance due to condition. The flights set us back 5000 dollars, and frankly we couldn’t pay any more than that and we got the cheapest flight available. Ultimately, I think AirTransat should be able to work with me, he’ll even give vouchers for some flights, because I KNOW they send planes with empty seats all the time, and they have seats worth more than our 4 combined too.

The fact that customer service won’t help in this debilitating situation, having lost my sister less than 7 months ago too, is salt in the wound. I just wish they would do SOMETHING.

Suggested solution:

By offering some form of compensation, preferably flights being rebooked as I know they are never going to refund and lose the money. I just want to have this as not a total loss of money with no memories to br gained...
