Air Canada complaint: terrible baggage service

My complaint:

We were on a flight from YYC to YYZ enroute to EWR on 14 Jan 2023. We offered to check our hand baggage to the final destination but could not because our airline changed for the 2nd part of the route. When we initially booked our trip we were only on Air Canada and did not know about the change.

Our complaint is that when we boarded the plane as one of the first in Category 3, there were no places to put our carry-ons and had to place them under the seat in front which made the flight squeezed and terrible. What my problem is that families that got to preboard used up all the space. There were 2 families that had 3 people and 2 pieces of carry-on apiece as well as a child stroller. I find this to have been excessive and because of this, 3 cabinets on both sides of the aircraft were full. The next open ones were 12 way down the plane to the back. Therefore, we decided to keep them with us because we did not want to lose sight of them. We also had the connecting flight and Customs to go through that we needed to get off the plane quickly and could not waste time going to the back of the plane to retrieve our bags.

Furthermore, when we finally got to EWR, our 3rd bag, which was skis did not arrive. After filing with United who did our second flight, we found out the 3rd bag never was put on the plane in Calgary. This is unacceptable, especially considering what we paid for the luggage. At the very least, we should have been informed about this through a text or email so we did not waste over an hour of our time after long flights at our destination waiting for the 3rd bag. We would not have been happy, but after a long day of travel, this courtesy would have saved considerable stress and time.

Today, January 16th, we finally got our skis after stressing over it for a day and a half.

As compensation, I am asking for a refund of our payment for the bag that did not arrive in a timely fashion.

As mentioned above, I would like to get a refund for the cost of the luggage that we paid.
