My complaint:

I am a customer of your store in Owen Sound, Ontario. Today I went in to buy Coke Zero, as I do several times a week. I found six pack cases of 750ml bottles of Coke Zero…at least eight cases…amongst the coke, sprite and diet coke in a display in the middle of the aisle on sale for $2.99.

The sign above the Coke products said $2.99. I grabbed two cases of six bottles of Coke Zero from the stack and proceeded to the self checkout.

When I scanned the Coke Zero cases they came up as 2 cases for $11.00.

After asking the nearby cashier why they were coming up improperly marked, she had a boy go and check the stack. He came back saying that the shelf of pop products says Coke Zero is 2 for 11 but he said there were several cases of Coke Zero in the aisle, from where I got my cases, of Coke Zero. He said he would move them immediately from the aisle.

I asked to speak to a manager who told me that Coke Zero is more expensive.

Why. WHY? If Coke products are on sale…and I mean, ALL of the other coke products…Sprite, Diet Coke, Regular Coke…why in the world are Coke Zero cases not also on for the same sale?

I ended up buying Diet Coke, a product I do not particularly care for, because your manager and cashiers refused to give me the product I wanted, Coke Zero, even though it was available under the $2.99 sale sign, for the advertised price.

The manager *** simply said, Coke Zero is more expensive.. They said someone must have moved the Coke Zero there. There were 8 cases, at least, in that aisle.

I have NEVER IN MY LIFE had to pay MORE for Coke Zero than any other coke product. It is absolutely RIDICULOUS for your manager to have told me that Coke Zero is more expensive than regular Coke or Sprite.

Besides that, the coke zero cases I found in the aisle were under the sign saying, $2.99. Shouldnt your company uphold the price shown?

I will NO LONGER visit Zehrs for any grocery needs, even though it is the closest and most convenient store to me.

I expect an explanation for this blatant disregard for customer service by your store manager and your cashier at the self checkout. This was at approximately 1020 am today, December 27 2023.

This was my message to Zehrs. I was contacted by the Assistant Store Manager an hour later who told me *** was no one and not a manager at all…he agreed that the posted price should have been honoured. I said How does that help me now? He said, in a most unnecessary tone, What do you expect ME to do about that? to which I replied, Nothing. and hung up.

Terrible customer service. No apology about the store cashier lying that *** was a manager, no offer to rectify the fact that I had to purchase a product I do not like. Only a lame excuse about the Coke rep putting the Coke Zero in the wrong place. Pass the buck buddy.
Keep passing it…

Suggested solution:

Gift certificates for NO FRILLS...where I have NEVER had a problem and the posted price is the one I pay. I will NEVER EVER go to Zehrs again. Not for a stick of gum or a can of vegetables.
