My complaint:

We never signed up for a Yelp account but much to our surprise, months later, there was 2 negative Yelp review attributed to our nonprofit. The complaints were not factual and actually libelous; however, we also by this time have very favorable reviews posted, which Yelp had hidden from view as ‘not recommended’. We brought these issues to Yelp’s attention but could only do so after we made an account for our nonprofit. Once we did, we were told they could not remove our nonprofit listing, there is no option to ‘opt-out’ (as virutally every other social media platform offers) nor did they not monitor feedback from ‘customers’ for misinformation, slander, liable, defamation (neither negative review was from actual customers), the reviews that were favorable, but they hid from the public and listed as ‘not recommended’ were because the users did not utilize Yelp to review businesses consistently enough for their algorithm !?! So the so-called ‘rating’ their system derives is based off of false but also limited input? Then we started getting hit up via email and text for us to ‘pay’ $300 or more for better placement and administration of the nonprofit listing, which we never had started to begin with. After reading other complaints, it appears Yelp actually is a money grab ‘scheme’ and people have had them withdraw $300 – $1,000 out of their bank accounts for so called ‘monitoring’ and highlight placement opportunities.

Suggested solution:

Remove our nonprofit listing completely from the Yelp platform.
