Xbox support runs through Microsoft's own support pages and the Xbox app rather than a public complaints address, so start signed in to the account the purchase or the console is registered to: subscriptions, purchase history, refund requests and device registrations all sit inside that account. Have the gamertag, the email address on the Microsoft account, the order number from the purchase confirmation and the console serial number ready. Support routes differ by country, so use the support link inside the app or on the official Xbox site for your own country rather than a number someone posted. Be wary of Xbox support phone numbers that turn up in search results or in replies on social media, because fake gaming support numbers are common, and never share a password or a login code with anyone.

Cancel an Xbox subscription from the services and subscriptions section of the Microsoft account it was bought on, not from the console alone, and turn off recurring billing so the next payment cannot be taken. Screenshot the confirmation page and the renewal date shown before and after you cancel, because that screenshot is the evidence if a payment still goes out. Check which account holds the subscription first: charges that look mysterious often sit on a family member's account using a saved card. If a payment is taken after you cancelled, quote the cancellation date and the reference in writing, and tell your card issuer or payment provider what happened as well.

Digital refunds on Xbox are requested through the refund section of the Microsoft account that made the purchase, and they are assessed rather than automatic: how recently you bought it and how much of it you played both count, so request it as soon as you realise there is a problem. Have the order number, the purchase date and the play time visible in your history ready, and describe the reason concretely: bought by mistake, bought twice, will not launch, or nothing like what the store page described. Purchases made by a child on a saved payment method are worth flagging as exactly that. Consumer law in your own country can also apply where a product is faulty rather than simply unwanted, so say so if the game does not work.

Use the official enforcement or account recovery route inside your Microsoft account first, because Xbox suspensions and locks are lifted through that appeal path and nowhere else. Write the appeal calmly and factually: the gamertag, the date access stopped, what you were told, and anything that suggests the account was compromised rather than misused, such as sign ins from places you have never been. Secure the account as far as you still can with two step verification and a recovery email you control, since access is the hardest thing to get back once it is gone. Keep a note of any balance, subscription time and games attached to the account, and do not create a second account to argue the first one.
