My complaint:

On 11042021 I entered the above mentioned Subway to order a sandwich. Two employees were behind the counter. No one greeted me or acknowledged my presence for at least five (5) minutes. When I was finally helped by employee 24, she did not greet me with a hello, instead a curt, can I help you? The employee was very rude, interrupting me several times when I attempted to give her my order. At one point, the employee, 24 according to the receipt, asked me if something was wrong. I told her that she was actually pretty rude. She then began demanding what she had done that was rude. I told her that I would take it up with her manager at which point she said she was the manger. I then told her that I would take it up with her supervisor. She again was demanding and persistent in my telling her what she did that was rude. I told her that the fact that she has to ask says a lot about her managerial skills. By this time the a number of customers had entered the store and I said that this was not an appropriate conversation as the store was getting and that I would send an email, at which point she laughed, and said, send an email! At this point a customer told her to walk away from me, which she repeated, I should walk away. She then asked me if I wanted anything else. I had two drinks and a bag of chips on the counter and I pushed those items forward on the counter. She then asked me again the same question and I pushed the items forward again. She asked me again, to which I replied, do you see anything else here? She asked again if I wanted anything else and I said can you just ring these items up so I can leave. You have a lot of people in line here. She finally rang up my items and asked me if I wanted a receipt. I said yes. As I am gathering my items she yelled, when you complain be sure to tell them I was asking you whether you wanted six inch or foot long. Upon my departure I said, Good bye white people. As I was leaving the other employee chimed in. I was here the whole time and I did not see her do anything rude, to which I replied, I am not talking to you. I then exited the store.

I understand this particular employee was upset by the previous customer. I, too, was annoyed by the previous customer. This person was a heavy set Black woman who was on her cell phone and not particularly responsive to employee 24 who was trying to get information about the order. I do not care about that. I was a new customer and should not have had to deal with employee 24’s bad attitude or rude behavior. I feel this entire situation was racially motivated.

Suggested solution:

Termination of employee would be the best resolution, which may seem harsh. Minimally send her to some classes to learn good customer service behavior.
