My complaint:

I signed up for a 4 week trial with the intention of cancelling before the charge date. Unfortunately I got taken into hospital so cancelling my subscription was the last thing on my mind. I woke up to a message from my bank to say I was overdrawn and contacted the shaw academy straight away. It was within hours of shaw academy taking the money from my account that I got in contact with them for a refund. It took over a week for shaw academy to get back to me even though it stated it would only take 48 hours. Someone called wang called and was very patronising. I explained my situation of being in hospital and he said he was sorry, can’t offer me a refund but will offer me 6 months free to complete a course as a ‘good will gesture’. I am a university student who has lost her job due to the pandemic and been taken into hospital and I think it’s disgusting! I have now been left with no money, just out of hospital and I feel severely demoralised.

Suggested solution:

Who in there right mind would want to continue on a course with this company who can’t even be sympathetic. A full refund or even a partial refund would be the humane thing to do. I would of considered paying for a course later on as they do offer a great range of courses but I felt like I was speaking to a robot on the phone who was not trying to understand the struggles for a lot of people right now.
