About NatWest
While NatWest is one of the UK’s big high street banks, covering current accounts, savings, cards, loans and mortgages, the issues people raise with retail banks follow a familiar pattern: cards or accounts frozen by automated fraud checks, long waits to reach a person, disputed payments that take time to investigate, fees that were not obvious when the account was opened, app and online banking outages, and slow progress on mortgage or loan applications.
Keep your own record when dealing with a bank: dates, the department you spoke to, what was agreed, and screenshots of anything that looks wrong. Report suspected fraud immediately, because timing affects your protection. Ask for a written complaint reference, note the deadline the bank sets itself for a final answer, and if that answer does not satisfy you, a free financial ombudsman service is usually the next step.
Account frozen without warning? Bring it to us. We help you turn the dates, amounts and reference numbers into a written complaint, then push it to the bank in writing.
Common customer service questions about NatWest
How do I file a complaint about NatWest?
Do you have a dispute or a bad customer experience with NatWest? Report it through our website to maximize the chance of getting it resolved.
We help you write an effective complaint in minutes. Our AI models are trained on thousands of effective complaint letters. Then we push it through emails, social media, paper complaint letters and other tools at our disposal. And you are not alone: our helpful community is there for advice.
How do I contact NatWest customer service?
The NatWest customer service number is 03457-888-444, and the chat inside the NatWest app is often quicker for an account query because you are already identified when the conversation starts. For a lost or stolen card, or a payment you did not make, use the number printed on the back of your card and do it immediately, since timing affects the protection you get. Have your account number and sort code, the dates and amounts in dispute and the reference for any earlier call ready before you start. NatWest, like other UK banks, does not ask you for your full PIN, your online banking password or a one time passcode, so treat anyone who does as a fraudster no matter what the caller display says.
Account frozen by a fraud check and your money out of reach? Start your complaint here and we push it out by email, social media and printed letters.
Why has my NatWest account or card been blocked?
A NatWest account or card is usually blocked by an automated check rather than by a person: a payment that does not fit your normal pattern, a login from a new device, a card used abroad, or a periodic review of the information the bank holds about you. Banks are legally limited in what they may tell a customer during a fraud or financial crime review, which is why the answers can sound evasive. Call the number on the back of the card, ask precisely what is needed to lift the block, and get a reference for the call. If identification documents are requested, send exactly what was asked for and keep a dated copy. Ask in writing for a timescale and for confirmation when the review closes, and keep a list of payments that failed while the account was frozen, because those consequences belong in the complaint.
How do I dispute a payment or claim a refund from NatWest?
Report a payment you did not authorise to NatWest as soon as you spot it, because your protection for an unauthorised transaction depends on reporting it promptly. Where you did authorise the payment but the goods or service never arrived or was not as described, ask the bank to raise a chargeback through the card scheme, which runs to its own time limits counted from the transaction or the expected delivery date. If you paid by credit card, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act can make the lender jointly liable with the retailer within the limits that law sets, which is a stronger route than a chargeback. Send the evidence as one bundle: the order confirmation, what you paid, what actually arrived and the messages showing you tried to sort it out with the seller first.
Refused by the bank as well as the shop? Report it here and we help you write it in minutes, setting out the payment, what you ordered and what arrived in the order a disputes team reads them.
How long does NatWest take to resolve a complaint?
NatWest sets its own service targets, but the outside limit comes from UK financial rules: firms have up to eight weeks to give a final response to most complaints, and plenty are answered much sooner. Ask for the complaint reference at the start and note the date it was logged, because that is when the clock starts. If the answer does not satisfy you, or eight weeks pass without one, you can take the case to the Financial Ombudsman Service, normally within six months of the final response letter. Keep every letter and email in date order and state the outcome you want in writing: a complaint moves faster when the bank knows exactly what would settle it.
Complaint answered with a decision that does not address what you raised? Take it through our complaint process: we open a case and keep coaching you on what to send and when to escalate.
What do people complain about most at NatWest?
Nothing has been reported about NatWest here yet. Our research shows what typically goes wrong at UK high street banks: cards and accounts frozen by automated fraud checks, long waits to reach a person who can decide anything, disputed payments that take weeks to investigate, charges that were not obvious when the account was opened, app and online banking outages, and slow progress on mortgage and loan applications.

What happens after I submit my complaint?
Your complaint gets its own public page on Complain.biz and we get to work: we bring it to the attention of NatWest through emails, social media, paper complaint letters and other tools at our disposal.
And we stay with it after you file. Our trained AI opens a case file for you and keeps coaching: what to reply, when to push again, and how to escalate if nothing happens.
Can other consumers help me with my NatWest complaint?
Yes. We have an active community of consumers, and complaints here are public: people who ran into the same problem with NatWest can give you advice or back you up with their own story. A complaint with a community behind it is much harder to overlook.
