My complaint:

I currently work at Michaels 5143 and I’ve been working since September. At first, I thought [Employee A] was an incredible manager until I realized it was all a facade. She recently got talked to by [Manager], who is the best. [Manager] truly knows how to keep the store in tip top shape.

That same day, [Manager] talked to [Employee A] about how [Employee A] would stay in the framing department and talk to the framer and be on her phone. There were different reports made by customers and workers about the same behavior.

After the conversation with [Manager], [Manager] clocked out to go home.

[Employee A] was then caught in the classroom on her phone a few hours after [Manager] left by one of my associates. A couple of days later, it was exceptionally busy as I was working an afternoon shift and there were 3 or more individuals on register and somebody was checking out that was friends with [Employee A]. [Employee A] chose to stand next to them in line to provide them her discount at one of the 3 or so cashiers.

After they checked out, [Employee A] stood in the doorway to the exit talking to her friends for a great 15 min as me and 3 other cashiers were being overwhelmed with a 20 queue in line. [Employee A] had full view of the long line and chose not to get on a register and help.

On a later event, as early as 11/20/23, I was taking a customer with a UPS drop-off and, as a Team member, we’re not supposed to handle those from what I was told. So I radioed for [Employee A] to come up and put it into the handheld work phone. She asked if I knew how to do it, and I responded saying I do not know how to do it and I believe it’s a manager’s job, not a Team member’s. She then sent up a Team member that’s barely a month in, and she knew how to do it. I asked her how she knew how to do that. She responded saying [Employee A] told me. I’m uncertain if it’s out of laziness, but that’s how it always looks whenever [Employee A] isn’t doing her work or is making Team members do it for her.

Suggested solution:

I don\\\'t hold anything against Benny but I believe she is still very young (19) and should not be in the position she is in.
