Michaels Stores complaint: Total Disregard for Customer Service-

My complaint:

ONE CASHIER (a female) was available to check out 15 customers plus respond to incoming phone calls. I also saw 2 male employees on duty. One came up front to search for something the customer on the phone needed and the other was looking at items in the craft room which was empty (of customers).When the male employee completed his search for the telephone customer he proceeded to walk towards the back of the store rather that assisting the one and only cashier. The female cashier was SUPERB with and awesome attitude about working SOLO with a long line of frustrated customers. One customer dropped her items and left the store fussing. I spoke to the youngest male employee to ask why no one was assisting the cashier and he LAUGHED and responded, we don’t have enough help. I responded, when you have a long line ( at that point 8 people where still in line), that should be the priority! That’s money standing in line! Stocking shelves and other things should wait until after the line shrinks. I was extremely disappointed that Michaels does NOT train its employees to put customer service first when there is a long line of people waiting to check out.

Suggested solution:

When there is a line with more that four people in it, additional workers should be called to help check them out of the store and then return to any additional task when the line is smaller. I would not only give Michaels one star because they had the items I needed. In the future, I would go somewhere else that would allow me to check out efficiently.
