My complaint:
Hi there,
I am a smoker and have smoked menthol cigarettes for over a decade now, I wouldn’t choose any other flavourbrand, beyond Windsor blue menthols for my preferred choice.
I’m not angry or here to throw insults, but I am confused and disappointed in the decision for menthols to be banned as it seems not only in effective but also slightly prejudice when you consider smoking all together is bad for you, not menthol specifically.
I understand smoking kills and second hand smoke and all of the nasty pictures of lungs, and yet, I love smoking! I don’t want to stop! I don’t drink much at all as I grew up with a severe alcoholic and have seen first hand the damage Alcohol can do, but simply due to popularity across the entire nation, it’s not being attacked, is advertised and celebrated everywhere, and can even be purchased for just a handful of coins to the point that even the homeless can afford it… sounds an awful lot like how cigarettes were once heralded!
life can suck especially in times like these and I can’t get on with these silly vapers that fog out the room. I would argue the lack of detail and investigation into those devices is equally if not more harmful than something you can grow in the ground and eat if you so wished to.
I feel like menthol specifically is being made a scapegoat to make it look like something is actually being done when really it isn’t. Menthol filters and rolling tobacco will still be available, and majority of smokers don’t smoke menthol anyway, and those that do will jump to hand rolled or learn to love non menthol.
This hasn’t been thought through properly at all, and I don’t know who to ask or speak to, in order for this to be reconsidered. In today’s age it seems your opinion stands for nothing unless your a bigwig with no clue or understanding and it’s ultimately leading to poormisguided decision making for those who it actually affects…. people like me, who will have zero say on the matter despite the massive disruption it will bring for me.
By all means, fight the supposed war on tobacco by outright banning smoking all together. Wishy washy half cooked ideas ultimately will just lead to a bigger pain in the neck and more issues.
I suppose this is a long way of saying, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Please don’t take away something i personally would deem a necessity for living. Some days at work and personally stresses can only be fixed by a steaming, double sugared coffee and a superking menthol.
If this is not the right place to make this argument, could you please direct me to where I can make it. I don’t want millions of pounds or be a big star in hollywood… I want to be able to puff on my favourite cigarette when my very average, somewhat pointless existence becomes more unbearable than it already is. And the biggest concern I have for this nation, is that those who matter are not even asked let alone heard.
Suggested solution:
Please overturn the menthol ban or at least put out a public petition to ask who is in favour or against their potential daily product being made extinct
