My complaint:

I went to Jewel-Osco in Des Plaines today, the cashier I had was Omar. He has special needs. He was trying to explain to the manager on duty that he had accidentally charged the woman before me for 2 pineapples instead of 1. The manager then proceeded to berate Omar and call him stupid. Omar was having a difficult time trying to fully explain what had happened because the manager had made him so nervous. I decided to step in and tell the manager that he needed to be more patient with Omar and not yell at him that way he can properly tell him what had happened. The manager rudely said that he couldn’t understand his English and proceeded to tell me that he would ban me from the location. This was very unprofessional both to his employee and myself as a customer. My brother also has special needs, so it struck a nerve to see someone be treated to badly especially on the sales floor in front of everyone. Yet, I get threatened to be banned because I was standing up for Omar ? What’s the point of hiring people with disabilities you’re going to treat them badly ?!

Suggested solution:

They need to properly train management and staff to treat people with disabilities with respect. At the end of the day, they are humans too. If there's a conflict they should resolve it in a better manner. There is no reason for management to be name calling their employees and threatening customers.
