My complaint:
IRS refunded me more money than the software calculated I should get. This is after I entered the same tax data into the software three times and got two different answers. I filed the return that got the same answer twice. This is the second time their software failed to accurately calculate my taxes. The last time (2018) resulted in a $2000 penalty when the software did not properly add in the amount of a taxable annuity distribution. The annuity was properly entered in the software, it just didn’t add it to the other distribution when totaling the two. This resulted in a $10K error with an $8K extra liability and a $2K penalty.
Suggested solution:
Refund me the money I paid for their software totaling $23.84 bought from Office Max which is almost the same as the extra refund of $24.48. This was a 3% error.
