My complaint:

This is a long standing issue, first reported in February 2019, with overheating of central heating as much as 26 degrees C when the schedule is set at 21 degrees C. Hive digital team’s immediate reaction was to blame the regularly serviced newish combo boiler which I refuted. I advanced my annual servicing by 2 months and, as requested, reported back the fact that the boiler was not at fault and was responding to the Hive controller correctly and there was no heat leakage in the boiler. I spoke to a member (Lewis) of the Hive digital team on 15 May and he remotely carried out a few tests and phoned me back and said that clearly there was something wrong. After I mentioned I was of advancing years (88) of limited mobility, having suffered a Stroke, he said he would monitor wirelessly the performance of my system and definitely phone me back during the morning of 16th May. I am still awaiting to be contacted! I have discovered on the web that other customers have complained about temperature over-runs on the Hive heating system.

Suggested solution:

I want my Hive heating system sorted. My boiler servicing engineer suggested that there could be an intermittent fault with Hive Receiver unit; in which case I would need a replacement Controller. I had previously been offered by Hive the services of a BG Engineer to look at the system for £100. In passing my Gas Engineer said that a “rival” heating system always sent out one of their engineers “free of charge” to investigate whenever they had a complaint!
