My complaint:

On Friday November 27, 2020 I was shopping at your store located at
9730 St. Charles Rock Road in Breckenridge Hills, MO. As I was looking at some items I heard someone sniffling several times, then blowing their nose.
I turned around and observed the lady who did not have a mask. I mentioned to her that she should put her mask on. She said she did not have a mask.
I then went to speak to a store employee and expressed my concern that the customer was not wearing a mask. The store employee informed me that they could do nothing about anyone not wearing a mask in the store. I said there is a sign on the door that states “mask required to enter tore”. She said that the corporate office has told them they cannot turn anyone away or make them leave if they do not wear a mask because it is not a law. Also, the female employee I spoke with was pregnant.

Suggested solution:

First, does Family Dollar understand we have a pandemic, and the number of people contracting COVID, and dieing from COVID, continues to rise. The number of people that have lost employment, lost their homes, businesses that have been forced to close is astronomical !!
A business has the right to make certain rules pertaining to their business whether it is a state or local law. For instance, except for California, Florida,Illinois, New York, South Carolina, and the District of Columbia, it is not illegal to openly carry handguns in public places. Businesses have the right to enforce a rule requiring that no one is allowed to openly carry. FAMILY DOLLAR HAS THE RIGHT TO ENFORCE THAT MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN THEIR STORES. IF THEY DO NOT, IT SHOWS THEY NOT ONLY DON’T CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES BUT DON’T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I believe that Family Dollar needs to enforce the “Mask Required to Enter” mandate in St. Louis County and any other counties that have put the mandate in place. If not, then take the signs off the doors and replace them with signs saying “we’re not concerned about the health and safety of our employees and customers”.
