My complaint:

Hi, I would like to report a very rude employee at the Point Breeze Dollar store. When I got to the store, there was no one at the counter because all of the employees were in the back office area and a customer was waiting for an issue with their order.

When they came back out after about 5 minutes, one of the employees came out of the office to leave her shift and she walked across the entire front end section without a mask on and a cigarette in her mouth.

When the other employee came back, she told the customer that was waiting for help that she will take her at another register. I did not know the entire line was shifting because she failed to tell me and started ringing up other customers that were behind me.

I asked her if the register I was waiting at was still open, and she said no the line is now here and that I have to go to the back of the line. I got upset and I let her know that was not fair. I was next and that if the register was changing she should have made me aware because I was next. She said I had to go to the back of the line because I was not keeping six feet of distance. I told her that was ridiculous and that if they cared about safety measures then the other employee should not have been walking around behind the counter without a mask and a cigarette in her mouth.

When I approached the counter, she refused to ring me up because I had an attitude. I asked if I could speak to the manager, and she said she was the manager. I asked her name and she said it was Tracey. I told her she was one the with the attitude and that employees should not be so rude and walking around without a mask in the store. She went as far to tell me that customer service was not her job and that she will not ring me up.

I got very angry and left without a purchase. Tracey was very rude and aggressive with the customers and I hope she is not representative of the type of service Family Dollar provides. I am sure she lied to me about being the store manager, but if that is a case, she is not enforcing COVID safety measures with the employees.

She also told me that Family Dollar’s policy is for customers to check in their bags when they come into the stores which includes purses. This policy is absolutely invasive, especially during the pandemic. I do not want employees touching or handling my personal possessions, especially if they cannot follow protocols to wear masks or sanitize.

I am shaken and very upset by this experience and will not shop there if she is still employed there. This incident happened on Thursday night around 6 pm on 1217 if you would like to look into who was staffed that night. The only employee’s name I was able to get was Tracey who claimed to be the manager.

Thank you,
Roomi

Suggested solution:

I do not think the employee, Tracey, should be working there. She said she was the manager, and she was not enforcing proper COVID protocols of wearing a mask a in store. One of the employees had a cigarette in her mouth behind the front end.
