Cash App complaint: Failure to Refund Cancelled Transaction

My complaint:

On 2122020, at 3:01pm, using my CashApp Account ID at: $maicashapp1, which is linked to Source Account – MasterCard Debit Card ending in 8047, and references CashApp Identifier EFFN280 for the transaction, I sent a $40.00 CashApp payment to my son’s CashApp Account ID at: $ovrlkddd.

CashApp Account ID $ovrlkddd is linked with my son’s old phone number and it has not been active or accessible to him since he changed his phone number earlier this year. Within moments of sending that $40.00 payment, he realized and informed me that I sent the $40.00 payment to his old CashApp Account ID and that he set up a new CashApp account ID. He then gave me his new CashApp ID and immediately, on February 12, 2020, at 3:06pm, I sent a second $40.00 CashApp payment to his newactivecorrect CashApp Account ID at: $ron8vv (FYI: This second $40.00 payment was successfully processed and received by my son).

The next day, on 2132020, two separate payments of $40.00 were debited from my bank account; one for the oldinactiveincorrect CashApp ID and one for the newactivecorrect CashApp ID (Please see the attached bank transaction record for proof of the two processed debits). Once I realized a total of $80.00 was debited from my bank account, I researched and located CashApp’s online help information page. It states that pending payments which are cancelled via CashApp, are automatically returned to the source account within 1-3 business days, or 10 days, depending on the source payment method.

I initially thought that the refund would be credited back to my bank account automatically and that was my mistakemisinterpretation. After waiting several more weeks and still not receiving the refund, I referred back to CashApp’s online help information page to see if I could clarify andor determine why my refund had not been processed. That is when I discovered and realized that I needed to physically cancel the pending payment, via the app, to initiate the refund process.

On March 9, 2020, at approximately 2:54am, using the CashApp online payment cancellation instructions for pending payments, I accessed my CashApp account menu, located the pending $40.00 payment that was sent to CashApp ID $ovrlkddd, verified the cancel function was availableenabled, and proceeded to use it to successfully cancel pending payment. Additionally, the successful cancellation is recorded on my CashApp payment log history and it references cancellation request CashApp Identifier 6A9A6XG. I then waited several more weeks for the $40.00 refund to post to my bank account.

To date, the $40.00 payment that was sent to inactive CashApp ID $ovrlkdd on 2122020, and withdrawn from my bank account on 2132020, still has not been credited back to my source bank account ending in 8047. Per the CashAppSquare, Inc. online instructions that I recently located, I am now submitting this written request for the cancelled pending payment of $40.00 to be researched and verified with the comprehensive transaction details I have provided and to be refunded as soon as possible. Once researched and verified, please either refundcredit the $40.00 back to my CashApp Source Account (Please refer to the red, bolded, italicized, underlined, CashApp account details in the first paragraph for my CashApp account information) or alternatively, you can mail me my $40.00 refund in the form of a check to my contact information that is also referenced above.
