My complaint:

My mom arrived at agape around 12:30pm on Monday November 8th2021. She was put in bed with her clothes on. She came from the rockyview hospital. We were going over all the paperwork when mom asked for pain meds. Now mom was getting hydro morphine every hour or so. Yes we knew mom’s health was terminal but we thought she had time and so did the hospital. With in 2 hours of her arrival nurse Sandra and yes I will give their names gave my mom medazalam. She said it was for anxiety. With in less than eighteen hours my mom went from getting dressed playing cards visiting and eating to knocked out. We as a family asked them to stop giving her this drug because a doctor had not even seen mom to access her. The second nurse Maryann on the Wednesday was rude to my family. We were to have a meeting with the doctor that evening at this point my mom was delirious. The nurses said that they were changing her meds because coming in every hour was not acceptable. Maryann gave mom the medazalam under a different name. Sorry I can’t remember it. You guys will know. When it was time to give her more I asked what exactly it was and she told me it was the same as the medazalam. I told her no and to wait until my family came back and we saw the doctor. She said to me not so nicely “well I hope your mom can wait”. Now my mom died November 11th less than 70 hours of her arrival. Your establishment rushed her life as I’m sure you do to many others. It is assisted death that was not asked for. It was not peaceful at all. You decided to hurry my mom for what reason I do not know or understand. You took away her last days with her family. There is more to this story but is far to long. My mom was a wonderful person and was not given a fair opportunity to die on her terms. You made it in your terms and that is dispicable.

Suggested solution:

The facility should be shut down! Or at least a revaluation on it’s practices. It may be a great place for some and some family’s might have had a great experience but we did not. It was an inconvenience to come and give my mom pain meds so often. You have a protcal there that I believe needs to change or at least needs to be handled differently patient by patient.
