My complaint:
Left my dinner jacket at previous hotel who kindly packaged it ready for shipping. They recommended DPD or UPS; unfortunately, I went with DPD. On Sunday, on the DPD website, I scheduled a Monday pickup for a Tuesday delivery. I paid and received a ation that the jacket would arrive by 4pm, in time for our company’s gala dinner. I checked the website and the tracking indicated a 4pm delivery; however, also noted the package wasn’t picked up. I called the hotel and they said there was no pickup for 2 days, so I sent an email to DPD. Their curt response was there was a bank holiday so they did no pickups and I should have known better.
What crap, stores were open, hotels were open, Guinness was poured, taxis operated, phones worked, and finally, DPD ALLOWED me to schedule the pickup, gave me a ation and there was no indication they were not doing pickups on the website. Additionally, why didn’t DPD do a pickup on the first day back after the holiday when I scheduled next day delivery?
So, DPD schedules a pickup the next day, Wednesday for a Thursday delivery with the caveat As long as the goods are in reception waiting for the driver to pick up today, you should have the goods tomorrow. The package is at the hotel reception desk, and when the DPD driver arrives, the receptionist is on the phone. He is so impatient that he leaves without the package before she can put the phone down. When the hotel called me about this, I emailed DPD to go back to pick it up. Here is the response: Please see both previous mails send to you. Incredible, the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered.
I emailed the complaint department looking for resolution and later requested they forward the package to my home in the US as my flight was early Friday morning.
Now I’m sitting in the Dublin airport, 2 days after filing a complaint, and the response I received this morning is: We can by all means rebook the collection for the parcel to be delivered to the address on the order, however we will not be able to ship the parcel to Florida I am afraid. Please advise how you wish to proceed.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS???? So, I guess I’ll fly back to Ireland to pick up my package at the Intercontinental Dublin. TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE! Let’s see what happens.
Suggested solution:
Ship my package to my address in the USA at their expense, I already paid for the in-country delivery they failed to provide.
