Booking.com complaint: Arrived at closed establishment

My complaint:

We were supposed to check in anytime aafer 16:00. Upon arrived -18:30 the property was vacant. No one to assist us. We even asked two neighbors to assist and they both tried for several minutes to assist.

Guest phoned around 8pm and said that we can check in. Unprofessional to say the least. We phoned booking.com and they also tried to contact the establishment with no success. They said they will get back to us within 29minutes with alternative accommodation. Which they didn’t.

After the owner contact us to saybhe is now there did they message to say that the owner is at the establishment.

I requested a full refund but bookings.com does not return any messages.

Suggested solution:

Full refund. I had to find alternative accommodation and pay after booking and paying with bookings.com.
