Wells Fargo complaint: Unwarranted Account freeze and closure

My complaint:

I deposited a third party check properly endorsed through the ATM on 5-8-2022 @ 8:56pm. On 5-9-2022 @ 12:41am. I received two emails from Wells Fargo stating my accounts have been frozen and will be closed on 5-23-2022 due to depositing a check made payable to someone who is not on my account. My deposit receipt stated a hold will be placed on the check due to doubtful collectability and they have been notified by the paying bank that the check would be returned unpaid. No where was it stated by depositing this check my account would be subject to closure. This check was totally legit for Covid-19 rent relief signed over to me by my tenant for past rent owed. Wells Fargo immediately reversed the ATM deposit I made and proceeded to decline all transactions for payments I had made prior to this deposit eventhough my original balance was $1651.09. They stated in their letter that they were obligated to honor payments made prior to account closure. They did not. They did, however, honor a Zelle deposit the day after this took place. The declines resulted in imposed late charges by my creditors in addition to a Three Day Notice to pay or quit for my unpaid and returned rent payment.

I visited a Wells Fargo branch twice for help to rectify this situation. I was told I could not withdraw my money that I desperately needed to pay my bills that they declined and I would have to wait for a cashier’s check once my accounts were closed. I reiterated the urgency of this situation and they said there was nothing they could do as it was being handled by the fraud prevention department. I received no help whatsoever. I was lied to by an associate telling me the cashier’s check was already being processed and to top it all off the branch manager forgot to return my driver’s license to me and didn’t even call to let me know they had it. I had to ask them to look for it when during my appointment Monday morning as I discovered it was missing Sunday afternoon. The only thing they did for me was to return my license they had all weekend.

Today I received a letter in the mail from Wells Fargo Account Review stating I had defaulted on a Wells Fargo loan account, which is my Wells Fargo Visa. As a result my account had been closed. My ACCOUNT WAS NOT IN DEFAULT! I made my April payment and they closed my account before my May payment was due.

My life has been turned upside down due to their unwarranted actions against me. They have stopped all activity on my accounts yet they continue to hold money that is rightfully mine causing a major financial hardship and compromising my wellbeing.

Suggested solution:

They need to immediately unfreeze my accounts and overnight a cashier’s check in the amount of $1651.09 due to me and close my accounts.

I want a letter from them to send to my creditors for reimbursement of all imposed late charges because I had the funds in my account to pay them and they withheld my payments.
