My complaint:
I am a disabled Veteran with disability with my hands to where I don’t use a smartphone at check out as home depot recently requires. I just got a VA id card and now this is not used no more. You offer a discount to Veterans with stipulation of having to jump through hoops, I am a veteran at check out at home depot but you don’t want to honor my military discount as you advertise, I will go to lowes where they treat the Veteran with respect. I give them my phone number and seconds I get my military discount. With home depot I find myself showing my drivers license, my VA id card, my phone number and 5-10 minutes of you wasting my time no discount. Home depot you are disrespectful to this Veteran.
Suggested solution:
Have the discount activated by a phone number like Lowes. I am going to avoid home depot because I am feeling you are cheating me out of a military discount you advertise. I feel you have disrespected this Veteran. Who Ever's idea of using a id card or smart phone should be fired. Maybe you should hire a Veteran for this job. Home Depot you messed up!
I have stopped shopping at Home Depot. Not having a smart phone, I went to the store and asked for help at customer service. A manager was asked by staff to help me. The manager apologized for not being able to do anything to help-corporate policy.
I now shop exclusively at a locally owned company that has four branches in my area. Just show my military ID at checkout for a 10% discount. The store has a similar line as Home Depot and has a sales staff that knows their stuff.
