On August 9, after searching for air ticket information on Google, I downloaded the Priceline app using my Google account and booked a round-trip air ticket to Montreal, Canada, in September. Something unfortunate happened.
Throughout the entire booking process, I made sure that I never gave or wrote down my Google virtual name of Jimmy Zhang.
By the time I discovered the error on the ticket reservation, it was too late, and Priceline refused to change the name on the ticket to my legal name. But they sent me background notes so I could check the entire process.
I carefully checked the content of the flight booking link sent to me by Priceline personnel. The Google name was obviously automatically generated by the Priceline system and was not the real name I filled in during the booking process. The thing is I searched on Google for information on air tickets that Priceline might offer, and during the ordering process I got a that I had to download your app to complete the booking. At this time, another appeared on the screen, users can use Google account to register for Priceline, so I used Google account to download the Priceline application to complete the reservation. But during the booking process, I never filled in and provided the passenger’s name as the Google virtual name, Jimmy Zhang. Therefore, I am basically convinced that Priceline’s booking system directly uses the name automatically generated from Google. What I can’t understand is that this is an error caused by Priceline’s system vulnerability that does not require the customer to fill in the form. Why can’t Priceline correct this error and change the name of the work order to my name? Why should I bear the consequences of not being able to use my ticket?
I was hoping you might be able to answer a key question for me: Is this the name Jimmy Zhang that your system automatically generated based on the results of me downloading your website using Google Display Name?
Is this a vulnerability in a widely used ticket ordering system? Why does your company still refuse to correct this mistake when I point it out?
Because I feel that this matter is incredible and extremely unfair, I feel exhausted. I hope you can take my opinion seriously and check whether your system has this loophole that may harm the interests of customers, to avoid unnecessary disputes.
