My complaint:
Dear sir/Madame
I am putting a complaint in regarding a recent holiday to lizard point in Cornwall.
After paying nearly £400 for a platinum caravan we stayed in, from the 2nd September 2023 to 9th September 2023, we are not happy with the standards for this type of accommodation.
As soon as we arrived, we phoned reception to make them aware of the issues we first noticed but was told that there were no other caravans and so had to put up with it for the week.
Below is a list of each and every issue with that particular caravan
•a large hole on the outside of the shower room door
•handle hanging off, with massive hole around it on shower room door (unable to lock)
•mould in shower room due to condensation and fan broken
•double bedroom door had a large hole in the back
•fridge freezer thermostat was playing up, as well as the doors not closing properly because the handles would catch each other. This caused the fridge to freeze our food and the freezer to fill with frosted ice which caused us to throw around £100 worth of food!
•The oven door had dropped and so had to lift to close when using.
Also this was not cleaned properly, leaving crumbs and grease on top for our arrival.
•crumbs were on the dining room table as we walked through and on the sofa chair used for that table.
•the main sofa had sweet wrappers, a hair band and it was just filthy!
•The lino in kitchen area had a rip in and was covered in rust spots all over where the stalls were.
•the kick-board below kitchen sink was to small in length so left a gap
•plug socket in living room didn’t work
•sofa a had a screw hanging out
•Toilet roll and bin bag was NOT provided on arrival
We spent our first day calling reception, cleaning things to bring it up to spec and there was no hoover to be able to clean the floor because there was bits of food around the floor too.
We was aware the site was short staffed to the point that lifeguards were used for housekeeping which probably explains the terrible lack of standards, which even if this had of been a bronze caravan, was still not good enough!
When booking, a bronze was half the price of what we paid and feel we was cheated out of our money for the standards given.
Also, because there was a shortage of staff and the lifeguards were used, this caused a domino effect for the outdoor pool to hardly be open on a very hot week!
Because the shower door could not close, we had to make sure that the curtains were closed in living room each time we used the shower so the caravans opposite could not see anyone.
Also all vending machines were out of order
and the ice cream shop was not open the whole time we was there.
Due to the circumstances noted above, this holiday was more stressful and don’t expect to go on holiday to have to clean as soon as we get there.
Because it was the first week out of season it apparently isn’t usually like this and was told this by a long term resident.
I hope this along with the attached photos is proof enough and you can see how poor and dismal it really was.
I expect a reply within 14 days either by phone or by letter, if by phone I expect ation by letter too.
