Kroger complaint: Digital discrimination

Complaint from Fed up with Digital reported on 02 February 2021 about Kroger

My complaint:

Kroger has implemented an app that they require their consumers to download in order to reap the benefits of their digital coupons. Many deals and sales in store require the consumer to download said digital coupon to their phone to receive the sale price. This practice rules out people such as myself, who do not either know how to or simply use their phones in that way. It’s a discriminatory practice that rules out most post war, baby boomers, and boomer II generations. It’s exclusively recruiting the X generation and younger as their target audience, and those of us who are older are left out. This new practice is discriminatory against older consumers, as well as those who do not wish to use their phone in that way.

Suggested solution:

Make ALL coupons, digital included available to all consumers!

I competely agree and have sent a formal compaint to Kroger. I am thinking they are ripe for a class action lawsuit! This discriminates against the elderly, the poor, the illiterate, and non English speaking.

Yup. I DO know how to use this crap, and STILL frys (a Kroger sub company) can’t get my digital coupons correct. (They used to, but past two or times didnt.. AND they REFUSE to honor it, despite the print out showing the date I printed them. Meaning I couldn’t have printed them yesterday and used them and trying to use it again)

I’m all for a nasty lawsuit, where we don’t settle. And part of the suit demands all retailers cease this practice.

I called and opened an incident at one of the Kroger stores about discrimination with the digital app/coupon. This is a very bad practice by Kroger. Why don’t they stand up and do the right thing and change how they do business? adopt the position of “NO APP/NO PROBLEM” If Kroger would stand up with the customer and make it so a majority of us is not “excluded” more folks would shop there! > it is wrong to discriminate against the people without the ability of the “APP/ digital coupon during an economic crisis of high food prices.
