My complaint:
I travelled from Spain, Alicante on the 14th October to East Midlands airport. Booking ation 29HR2N. Prior to departure I ensured I complied with all the regulations as per the UK Gov website, i.e, fully vaccinated, locator form completed and PCR test for day 2 purchased. On arrival at the checkout I was informed that I was unable to fly as Oman (the country where I was vaccinated) was not recognised. In order for me to travel I was told to do a PCR test at Eurofins clinic at the airport, cost Euros 29.17 and change my locator form from fully exempt to nonot declared (unvaccinated). Your ground staff were in possession of a document listing many Middle Eastern countries but it did not include Oman. This was an old document and as per the new UK Gov guidelines Oman was not on the red list as of 4th October and vaccinations were accepted in the UK.
This caused me a great deal of stress at the airport getting my PCR test and changing the form. The form was completed online by the ground staff.
When I arrived in the UK i was contacted by the UK track and trace and told to quarantine for 10 days and do PCR test on day 28 or do one on day 5 for early release. I had to contact another department to explain my situation, whilst it was agreed I was exempt it was too late an I was on their system, so they were obliged to contact me until the end of the quarantine period.
I feel that Jet 2 should have an obligation to their clients to ensure that they are fully up to date with the latest guidelines for all countries they fly to and all staff are made aware of this.
Overall the flight was good but my experience at check in overshadowed this.
Suggested solution:
Ensure all staff have the latest guidelines as per the country travelling to.
Award compensation for additional expenses.
