My complaint:

My wife and I have had Capital One cards since 2018. Over that period of time we have enjoyed using the card(s). We have also spent over $153k
during the 5 yrs and have never had any issues with paying off our monthly balances.

Today, we have decided to close our account. On May 10th, we were charged the annual fee of $95. We asked to be credited back for the $95,
since we will no longer be using the cards. We were told that it has been 44 days since the annual fee was charged and that to get the refund, we should have closed the account 4 days earlier. I tried to use common sense in the discussion offering our point of view. One, that we would be paying for a service that we will no longer be using. Two, that most companies we deal with would understand our frustration in not knowing that particular detail and the fact that our request was within 4 days…
Also that it would be nice to recognize what great customers we have been
over the last 4 12 years, spending over $153,000….!

We are both 68 yrs young, and $95 means a lot more to us than….

Suggested solution:

We believe that given the circumstances, our request to credit our account for the $95 would be appreciated and leave both your company and ourselves on good terms for potential opportunities. We do have 5 adult children and their spouses and 6 grandchildren that we have shared our experience with in using Capital One...and up to this point it has been very favorable!

Thank you for your consideration!
