My complaint:

On flight BA 6417 from OR TAMBO to CAPE TOWN on 25 Jan 2022 my wife and I were booked in seats 11D and 11E. An overweight Giant was allowed to board the flight. He was booked in seat 11F, but he was so big he couldn’t fit in the seat. So my wife and I had to move to 11E and 11F, and Mr Giant in 11D. However, he was too big for the seat so the armrest had to be folded away. My wife (65yrs) was pushed away so that she had to sit on the opening between her seat and mine for the two hour flight, ending up with back pain for the rest of the day. She couldn’t fold her tray table down as it was pushing into Mr Giant’s stomach, and she couldn’t eat or work on her computer. Just look at the picture – it will tell the whole story. The hostess was just looking on at the whole incident. We are very disappointed about this and feel this is completely BA’s fault. It is also a safety risk because it would be almost impossible to get out of our seats in case of an emergency, and in addition my wife and I were sitting in the wrong seats.

Suggested solution:

1. Mr Giant ed to us that he is travelling for business regularly. BA should contact him and inform him that in future he must book two seats.
2. BA should compensate us for this with a voucher for a similar future flight.
