Walmart complaint: Return of Coffee maker

My complaint:

Tried to return a coffee maker which was 10 days old that stopped working but I did not have the box so they wouldn’t let me return it, I asked for an even exchange and the manager stated “we don’t even exchange”. When I bought the product NO One told me I needed to keep the box for a return if needed. Manager stated they need upc code from the box even though this information is on the receipt. Is this corporate policy or just this store policy? If so i believe the policy needs to be addressed. I spend a lot of money at Walmart monthly and this is not the way to handle the situation. I just wanted the coffee maker replaced that stopped working.

Suggested solution:

Just even exchange, manufacture does not put upc on their products but there is a model number and that did not satisfy the manager either. Manager could scanned product from the product off the shelf and kept the box!
