My complaint:
On 12/14/23 I received a payment in the amount of $620 from a friend on venmo for a beach trip. This payment was received on 9:18am central standard time. At 9:23am on 12/14/23 venmo sent an email stating that my account was frozen and I needed to send in a copy of my drivers license. I complied. Venmo then asked for me to send a selfie in with my drivers license. I complied again. Since then the only info I have received is that my account will be frozen until 12/28/23.
I feel this is unacceptable given that I’ve not received a response as to why the account was frozen. It certainly looks like they froze it to hold on to my money for a couple weeks. To make matters worse I explained to venmo I had just been released from the hospital and am in a precarious financial situation with the $620 locked in venmo being the majority of funds I have right now. I simply want my account unlocked long enough to retrieve funds to my debit card on file then close my venmo account permanently.
Suggested solution:
I simply want access to my funds in froze account. If I receive access to my account and am able to withdrawal $620 balance to my debit card I will consider the matter closed and withdraw complaint as well as close Venmo account permanently.
